Narragansett 2100, a non-profit organization of landlords with rental property in Narragansett and Narragansett property managers, has established a $500 scholarship for a URI student who resides in Narragansett.
“This scholarship is to honor the late Ray Kagels, founder and past president of Narragansett 2100. Ray loved the town of Narragansett and devoted much of his time volunteering in Narragansett. Ray worked hard in getting the various constituencies to work together to improve the quality of life in Narragansett. This scholarship will be awarded to a URI student residing in Narragansett who exhibits a strong level of community service.” Said Al Ranaldi, president of Narragansett 2100.
After reviewing over 100 scholarship applications from URI students, the scholarship was awarded to URI junior, Sara Gallo. In addition to her strong academic achievements, Sara has an extensive list of volunteering. She is the vice president of community service for URI’s Kappa Delta sorority. Sara has participated in mission trips to Jamaica and Baltimore, volunteers at several soup kitchens and volunteers locally at the Jonnycake Center and the Girl Scouts.
The scholarship award was presented to Sara by Al Ranaldi, president of Narragansett 2100 at a recent Narragansett 2100’s Board meeting.
